*PRESS CONFERENCE BY BINDURI NDC*

Ladies and gentlemen, the great NDC in the Binduri constituency is saddened to hear of the attack on the NPP constituency chairman by unknown gunmen as reported on the media. We condemn this barbaric and inhumane act with the strongest of words.

Ladies and gentlemen, as we condemn this attack on the NPP chairman, we also wish to express our utmost disappointment in Hon Abanga Abdulai reportage on the matter and we condemn him in totality for loosely pronouncing that the NDC is behind this attack. As a leader of the constituency, Hon Abanga Abdulai should have been guided and speak as an MP for all instead of tagging politics on this issue.

As a party, we're concerned by the alarming rate of attacks on not only political actors but the entire constituents of Binduri in recent times. We're therefore calling on the security agencies to conduct thorough investigations and bring the perpetrators to book.

Ladies and gentlemen, as we condemn this attack on the NPP chairman, we also condemn in no uncertain terms the accusations levelled against the NDC fraternity and its leadership by Hon Abdulai Abanga as being the ones behind this unfortunate and criminal act.

Our friends from the press, records must be set so far as peace and security in BINDURI is concerned which the member of parliament Hon ABANGA ABDULAI has never commented and condemned publicly. Is he now finding his voice to speak on the insecurities in Binduri because his party’ car was burnt? Where was he during:

1. The attack on the late Alhaji Seidu Abanga (former NDC chairman) at Atuba market square

2. The attack on the current NDC chairman, Hon Ariku Martin at his residence in Bazua town

3. The attack and killings of our two promising young brothers, the late Peter Ndezure and Solomon at the Bazua youth base

4. The gruesome murder of the late Assembly man for Manga Nayoko at his residence in Nayoko No.1

5. The burning of houses and attacks on some people and killing of two men at the Gumyoko Community

6. The attack and killing of market women at Avoundago forest

7. Attack and killing of two young men at Binduri Area Council

We can keep giving instances of these kind of attacks in the constituency but we are restrained so as to respect the memory of the victims and their families. We do not want to revive past pains. Again, we beg the press to ask, where was Hon Abanga when all these attacks happened and he didn’t come to tell us who the suspects were, or is the NPP Chairman’s car so important than the lives that were lost in the previous attacks. Had our current NDC chairman lost his life when he was attacked will we have heard Hon. Abanga blaming his NPP for the attack? Or is this a case of the animal farm where “two legs good, four legs bad”?

Our good brothers and sisters from the media, you will agree with us that these and many previous attacks required our representative in Parliament, Hon ABANGA ABDULAI to have issued statements empathizing with the people of Binduri and calling on the security agencies to act accordingly and bring an end to these incessant attacks. We are very convinced that if he had taken some action in the past maybe we wouldn’t have gotten here, But Hon Abanga who is our mouth piece in parliament abandoned us and failed to raise it in parliament.

Therefore, we see the MP's accusation as not just false but baseless and we take great exception to it. This is because the NDC is a peace-loving party and has always given its people, Kusaug and Ghana the peace, security and tranquility they deserve. In fact, if any party has the right to blame his opponent then it should be we in the NDC rather blaming NPP because our members and executives have faced more attacks than the NPP. We want to remind you and the good people of Binduri that NDC has been the party that has always maintained peace in the past, while Hon Abanga and his party always bring insecurity to the people of Kusaug and then turn around to intimidate us with the military.

Hon. Abdullai Abanga is exposing his ignorance in the trends and history of these kind of attacks in the constituency and trying to treat Binduri as an issolated land in the Kusaug area. That is why he is linking this criminal act to politics. Hon. Abanga ABDULAI has lost touch with the good people of Binduri and as such he's seeking to use this unfortunate incident at his chairman's residence to gain public sympathy and also receive more support from his party.

Ladies and gentlemen, we want Hon. Abanga to tell us what crime the people of Binduri and Kusaug has committed against him for which reason he has introduced a lot of bad luck on us anytime he is involved in leadership. Why is it so:

i) Kusaug was peaceful under President Kufuor’ reign until he Abanga took over as MCE and the narrative changed

ii) Also under his watch as MCE, old men and women, young men and women and even children were beaten mercilessly at Atuba, Bazua, Kukparigu, Binduri towns etc… by State sponsored military and some people lost their lives as a result

iii) There is always peace in BINDURI when NDC is in power, but when Abanga and NPP are in power, there are attacks, burning of vehicles and intimidation by millitary personel

vi) Under his watch as MP and minister, the conflict in Bawku extended to Binduri and its people

vii) Finally, under Abanga’s watch as MP and minister, robbery incidents and personal attacks have prevailed in our beloved Binduri district.

*Loud Questions*

Why is it that NPP Candidate and chairman were seen campaiging for JDM and Hanan of NPP at Pusiga.

When was the first and last time Hon Abanga raise the issue of Kusaug in parliament for possible and legal enactment to help address the long-standing conflict in Kusaug.

Ladies and gentlemen, we see this and many other actions of the Hon MP as intimidatory and an affront on our respected leadership. And we wish to serve him notice through this medium that, the NDC in Binduri will not condone this cunning antics of his in the future.

We also wish to employ our supporters, party sympathizers and the good people of Binduri, not to relent on their efforts to get this discriminative, insensitive and unempathetic MP and government out of power come December 7, 2024. This is very necessary because, the MP has demonstrated openly that he is just an NPP MP and not the MP of the people of Binduri. And for that matter, all other lives in Binduri are inferior and should not matter.

Ladies and gentlemen, in conclusion, we are not only asking the MP to apologize to the NDC and its membership but the entire people of Binduri and Kusaug for failing to be their voice in parliament and having prioritized “Party Car” over precious human lives.

By this release, we call on the MP and his so-called reporters to retract and apologize to the NDC in Binduri for such needless and reckless accusations that have the potential to disrupt fragile peace and the cordial relationship we are enjoying for years.
