Jorginho has said Arsenal have undergone a mentality shift thanks to Mikel Arteta because the club spent years not fully believing they should win trophies.
The Italy midfielder claimed that the Gunners had lacked the belief of Chelsea when he was a player at Stamford Bridge because the Blues were convinced of their right to land silverware.
But he can see that changing in north London now thanks to Arteta and he says the team are motivated in their quest to overcome Manchester City on top of the Premier League.
Speaking to the Seaman Says podcast, Jorginho said: “The only thing I can talk about is when Mikel is here. At Chelsea, in any context, any situation, Chelsea would get a trophy. Whatever it was – Carabao Cup, FA Cup, Premier League, Champions League, Europa League – something to take home.
“It didn't happen at Arsenal before, but the mentality now is different because you can see the hunger of wanting to win. Sometimes it doesn't work out but the willingness and the hard work is there.
"The way you train every day, the information you have – even the pictures on the walls at the training ground, everything in that atmosphere is about winning.
“It’s really good because [Mikel] put up all these messages that you see there. It gets into your mind when you see it again and again, and you start to believe it.
"You go in and see that every day and then you get into the habit. It’s really good because you have the motivation, and all we want to do is win.
“The history of Arsenal is so big that everyone knows about it. It's just not possible to not know about it. And this mentality is back now so we just need to keep working the way we are doing.
"Of course, the expectation is quite high from all of us because who doesn't want to win? We work so hard, so why not to expect and want to do that?”
Arsenal make the short trip to face Tottenham on Sunday afternoon but Arteta has a selection headache with Declan Rice suspended, new signing Mikel Merino sidelined and Martin Odegaard a doubt after he injured an ankle while on international duty with Norway on Monday evening.
