Latest Chelsea news after Blues earned an important victory at Bournemouth, with Enzo Maresca's side back in action when they travel to West Ham on Saturday

Conor Gallagher celebrates scoring for Atletico Madrid

Chelsea secured their second Premier League win of the season during Saturday's 1-0 success at Bournemouth. Christopher Nkunku's late winner proved the difference as the Blues returned to winning ways.

The result means the Blues move up to eighth and within two points off the top four at this early stage of the season. It felt like a needed victory for Enzo Maresca, who has come under some criticism for his possession-based style of football, though the Blues are now on seven points from a possible 12.

Jadon Sancho impressed on his Chelsea debut since his loan move from Manchester United, picking up the Player of the Match award despite only coming on at halftime. There were other excellent performances, with Robert Sanchez saving a penalty and keeping a clean sheet, while Nkunku's impact is not forgotten.

Here, football.london rounds up the latest Chelsea news...

Gallagher goal

Conor Gallagher scored his first Atletico Madrid goal during their 3-0 win over Valencia on Sunday. The 24-year-old, who ended his 18-year association with Chelsea to join Atletico last month, has impressed since making the switch to Madrid and he capped his full home debut with his maiden strike.

A fine team move saw Atletico break fast, with Rodrigo de Paul playing a neat pass through to Gallagher, who kept his composure before slotting the ball home. Antoine Griezmann and Julian Alvarez scored the other two goals for Diego Simeone's side, who sit third in La Liga with 11 points from five matches.

"Yes, there are some Chelsea fans that are frustrated that the club let Gallagher go, but realistically, was he going to get much game time in the Premier League over Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, and Romeo Lavia? Although I think he deserved a shot, it didn't look like he had a chance of making it into Enzo Maresca's plans at all."

Palmer tipped for potential exit

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson believes that Chelsea will sell Cole Palmer if he goes on to become a £100 million player. Since his arrival from Manchester City 12 months ago, Palmer has been a standout performer. The 22-year-old ended as their top scorer in the Premier League with 22 goals.

Palmer has one goal and four assists in four appearances for the Blues this season, and Merson thinks that if he and Nicolas Jackson continue their outstanding form, it could prompt Chelsea into a big money sale further down the line. Both players are under contract until 2033.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Merson said: "If Nicolas Jackson scores 25 goals next season, they will sell him. That's their whole idea of signing these players. If Cole Palmer keeps doing what he's doing and becomes a £100m player, they will sell him. That's how it works."

FL says: "If Chelsea want to be successful over the next couple of years, they should be trying to keep Palmer for the long term. He is one of their best players; there is no doubt about that. Even at Manchester City, he showed that he could contribute to one of the greatest teams on the planet and he can now help Chelsea to better success.

"The same applies to Jackson, albeit I do think he needs some support with another striker to come in to ensure he doesn't have all the burden on him for scoring goals at the top end of the pitch."
