Police Intensify Manhunt for Escaped Armed Robbery Suspect, Jahboy

The Ghana Police Service has launched an extensive manhunt for Yaw Tawiah, also known as Jahboy, a 20-year-old suspect who escaped from custody after his arrest for armed robbery at Sefwi Abrokefe on September 23, 2024.

Jahboy’s escape has raised serious concerns about the security protocols at the Sefwi Abrokefe Police Station. The incident occurred when Constable Alice Owusu Agyemang, the officer on duty, reportedly opened the cell to allow Jahboy and his accomplice access to water to flush their toilet. It was in this brief moment of distraction that Jahboy managed to flee, leaving his accomplice behind in custody.

Jahboy had been arrested on multiple charges, including conspiracy to rob, armed robbery, and illegal possession of a firearm. These serious offenses had placed him under close watch, yet his escape has left authorities questioning how such a high-risk suspect could slip through their grasp. His accomplice, who was also arrested on similar charges, remains in police custody, but this incident has cast a spotlight on the lapses in security at police stations across the country.

The Sefwi Abrokefe Police are now working alongside other law enforcement agencies to track down Jahboy, and they have issued a plea to the general public to assist with any information that could lead to his capture. The suspect is believed to be hiding within the Sefwi area or possibly in nearby communities. Residents are advised to be on high alert and report any suspicious activity or persons to the police immediately.

The news of Jahboy’s escape has unsettled many in the community, where the recent spate of robberies has left people on edge. Armed robbery is a serious crime in Ghana, and suspects involved in such offenses are typically treated with caution due to the potential threat they pose to society. Jahboy’s escape is not only a blow to law enforcement but also a source of fear for local residents who now worry about the possibility of more criminal activity in the area.

Efforts to recapture Jahboy are ongoing, with police urging the public to remain calm but vigilant. The authorities have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to bring the suspect back into custody and prevent any further breaches of security in police cells.

Anyone with information about Jahboy’s whereabouts is urged to contact the nearest police station.
