Elvis Aaron Presley affectionately called Elvis was an American musician and actor, he was dubbed as the king of “Rock N Roll” due to his ability to entertain fans with his amazing dance moves, charming voice, and guitar skills. Elvis as he was called by fans and loved ones was born on the 8 of January 1935 by Vernon Presley (father) and Gladys Presley (mother) in Tupelo located in Mississippi, at the age of 13, Elvis and his family relocated to Memphis Tennessee where his musical career began in the year 1954 at Sun Records with producer Sam Philips.
Elvis was said to have taken his musical inspiration from the Assembly Of God Church where he along with his parents and siblings worshiped. It was at this church Elvis fell in love with the guitar and grew a genuine interest in music, hence decided to pursue it after doing some menial jobs like being the truck driver for Crown Electric. As the saying goes “Like father like son”, Elvis took after his father who was also a truck driver at the time. His time with Crown Electric began in June 1954, the same year his music career started. At one point, Elvis was also a movie theater Usher, all these jobs shaped his future and made him to renowned musician he was in the 20th century.
Elvis caught the attention of many with his charismatic and attractive nature. In the 50s Elvis had become so popular that his name and music were all over the television and radio stations. Elvis served his fans with evergreen and popular music such as “Don’t Be Cruel”, “All Shook Up”, “love me tender”, “Heartbreak Hotel”, and many more. At the peak of his career, the American sensation was dubbed the King of “Rock N Roll”. He had more songs on the Billboard Top 100 than any artist since the introduction of the list. The merchandise sales of Elvis Presley brought in a whopping amount of over $22m alone and thousands of fans gathered at every show Elvis was present at.

In the spring of 1957, Elvis who was now famous and well-to-do financially purchased the famous Graceland mansion for $100,000. This was because the previous year was one of the best years for Presley, it was his first successful year of superstardom and television appearances, record-breaking projects and performances and loads of gold awards so, purchasing his Graceland mansion for $100,000 was not that of a big deal for the king. History has it that, Elvis wanted refuge away from his wild fans and the pressure that comes with fame, that was his reason for purchasing his Graceland mansion.

Till today, there are still rumors spreading of the possibility of the King of “Rock N Roll” still being alive and living in his Graceland mansion. Although there is no concrete evidence to back these claims, these rumors are a result of one of Elvis's performances where he made the statement “Even if am dead, no one will go upstairs”, the reference to “upstairs” is believed to be where Elvis died or may still be living”. The upstairs is said to contain Elvis’s Office, his dressing room, his daughter Marie’s room, and the bathroom where he tragically died of a heart attack at the of 42, August 16, 1977. After the death of Elvis, his Graceland mansion was closed to the public, and his funeral was held at the home attracting over 10,000 to 25,000 mourners reported by news outlets.
However, on the 7, of June 1982, the house was opened to the public the second floor, which Elvis referred to as “upstairs” was sealed till today. The sealing of the upstairs raised the suspicion that Elvis might still be alive living upstairs and only wants to live a quiet life free from the thousands of fans who troops to see him daily. For many Elvis might still be living under a new name and a disguise but his family has denied these allegations many times as the grave site of Elvis has been made public on various news outlets and YouTube channels proving that indeed the king of “Rock N Roll” is dead.
