This Sunday, Asante Kotoko will meet the defending champions Samartex at the Len Clay Stadium in Obasi in an attempt to retake the top spot.

Kotoko is keen to return to domestic play after a turbulent week in which two players vanished while traveling to the United States for a friendly.

After the team only obtained six visas, the Sudanese pair of Esmat Abdal Hamid Mohammed and Obdoelkarem Yousef Yagoub fled, leaving the club in a difficult position.

Despite these distractions, Kotoko is playing well; they recently defeated Accra Lions and Nsoatreman to increase their winning streak to seven games.

Samartex, on the other hand, comes in with confidence following a convincing 2-0 victory over Ghanaian FA Cup winners Nsoatreman, which extended their own winning streak to five games.

Kotoko has historically dominated recent matchups, winning three of the last four, including a close 1-0 triumph in April.

As they compete for league supremacy, this matchup promises to be thrilling because both clubs are keen to keep up their momentum.

In addition to having an impact on the rankings, the game allows Kotoko to quell off-field disputes.

Elfsborg player Michael Baidoo said, "It was a fantastic sensation" after his incredible Ghana debut.

After making his Ghanaian national team debut this month, Elfsborg star Michael Baidoo shared his happiness and enthusiasm.

The midfield player made a substitute appearance in the second leg against Sudan in Libya and came off the bench during Ghana's 0-0 tie with Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Baidoo remarked, "It was a great experience," as he considered his debut. Receiving a call-up thrilled me, and representing my nation was an honor. When called upon to join the national squad, I was ecstatic because it had always been a boyhood ambition of mine. All of my friends and family were there to encourage me.

After Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey was unable to play because of sickness, Baidoo was named to the squad as a late substitute.

His debut showcases Ghanaian football's up-and-coming talent and represents a major turning point in his career.

Baidoo is excited to support the squad in future games as he seeks to build on this experience.

In 35 appearances this season across all competitions for Elfsborg, Baidoo has 14 goals and seven assists.
