After being solicited by a Mexican "cartel," a former Premier League football player disclosed his plans to purchase a firearm. Prior to stints at Brighton and Sheffield United, where he played during the Blades' 2006–07 relegation season, Colin Kazim-Richards, 38, started his career at Bury. The Londoner has since played for fifteen more clubs, bringing his total to eighteen.

He has played in leagues all over the world, including Greece, Brazil, Turkey, and the Netherlands, to mention a few, thanks to his unique career path. But after making an impression at Veracruz, he signed with the Mexican team Pachuca, where he encountered something that was undoubtedly horrifying at the time.I'm in Mexico. "[The] cartel is sending me messages on my phone," he said on the Broadtalks program.

I relocated from Veracruz to Pachuca, which is what happened. In Veracruz, we were not paid for the entire season. "I mash up [played well] there that season, therefore I've departed today. I scored against Pachuca and performed incredibly well. "I played really well against [Pachuca]." They entered and purchased me. The player will have been anticipating the problems on the field at this point, but it's possible that they were unaware of what would happen off it."Give me my phone," he continued. "Yes, carbron [a male goat in English]," the message read. "I wonder, 'Who is this?'" He clarified, "We need some money [it read]."

"Now that I'm showing my wife, things are different; she's a little stressed.""The man says, 'We need to send a thousand dollars to [the cartel],'" he continued. "Now I'm asking myself, 'Rah, do I need to defend myself?'" "Look, just to let you know I'm going to buy a gun," I remarked to the coach. “[But] the guy [coach] is like, ‘No, no, no, no – why what’s up?’” The Turkish international showed the coach the messages after describing his concerns, and then he requested "half an hour." After some pals conducted some Google research, Kazim-Richards described how he discovered that the sender of the texts was incarcerated. In a surprising turn of events, the 38-year-old was then informed that the individual in issue had previously been a member of the cartel but had been expelled because "he did something." He inquired, "You know what one guy said to me?" "Bro, if you believe this was a cartel, they're requesting $1,000," he said. Do you believe that they are concerned about $1,000? When the striker joined Derby County in 2020, he departed Pachuca. He played 63 games for the Rams before joining Fatih Karagümrük, a second-tier team in Turkey.
