EC Warns Against Electoral Malpractices Ahead of December 7 Elections

As Ghana prepares for the crucial December 7, 2024 elections, the Electoral Commission (EC) has issued a stern warning to the public about the consequences of electoral malpractices. With the elections fast approaching, the EC is working tirelessly to ensure the integrity of the process, urging all stakeholders, including political parties, candidates, and voters, to adhere to the rules and regulations governing the elections.

In a recent statement, the EC reminded the public that any form of electoral fraud, including vote buying, intimidation, and other illegal practices, will not be tolerated. They stressed the importance of conducting peaceful, free, and fair elections, in which every Ghanaian has the right to cast their vote without fear or interference.

The EC also pointed out the various measures it has put in place to safeguard the elections from any form of manipulation. These include the deployment of trained personnel, the use of biometric verification systems, and increased surveillance at polling stations. The Commission assured the public that it is committed to upholding transparency and fairness in the election process.

In the face of increasing concerns about electoral fraud, the EC emphasized the role of voters in protecting the election’s integrity. They urged citizens to report any suspicious activity or potential malpractices to the relevant authorities. The Commission also called on political parties to be responsible in their campaigns and to ensure that their supporters do not engage in any unlawful acts that could undermine the democratic process.

Additionally, the EC reminded voters about the importance of ensuring that they are properly registered and familiar with their polling stations ahead of the election day. They urged voters to stay informed through official channels to avoid confusion and ensure a smooth voting experience.

As we draw closer to the December 7 elections, it is crucial for every Ghanaian to recognize the importance of a fair election and contribute to the process by rejecting any form of electoral malpractices. With a collective effort, we can ensure that the 2024 elections are credible and a true reflection of the people's will.
