Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO and the Vice Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana’s 2024 elections, has officially addressed the party's defeat to the National Democratic Congress (NDC). In a statement issued on December 11, 2024, NAPO expressed the party's respect for the electoral outcome and thanked the Ghanaian people for participating in the democratic process. He acknowledged the concerns of the electorate, emphasizing the NPP’s commitment to addressing those issues to rebuild public trust. Dr. Prempeh also expressed gratitude to the party's flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the leadership team for their support during the campaign, which, despite its loss, demonstrated the party's dedication to serving the nation.

In his address, NAPO highlighted the importance of reflection within the NPP to better understand the reasons behind their electoral loss. He underscored his unwavering belief in the party's values, traditions, and ideals, stating that these principles will guide their efforts to regain the confidence of Ghanaians. Calling for unity and resilience, he urged party members to work together and remain steadfast as they navigate the challenges ahead. Additionally, Dr. Prempeh expressed heartfelt gratitude to his family, supporters, and campaign team for their loyalty and commitment throughout the electoral period, reiterating that their efforts were instrumental in sustaining the party's morale during the campaign.

Looking ahead, Dr. Prempeh’s remarks reflect the NPP’s determination to rebuild and strategize for future elections. He emphasized the need for the party to strengthen its internal cohesion and reconnect with the electorate, addressing the concerns raised during the election. This call for introspection is expected to shape the NPP's path forward as it seeks to regain its footing in Ghanaian politics. As the party begins this rebuilding process, NAPO’s acknowledgment of defeat and his message of hope and unity serve as a rallying cry for the NPP to emerge stronger, with a renewed commitment to advancing Ghana's democratic and developmental agenda.
