Northern Politicians List Tinubu's Sins Against The North

The northern region of Nigeria is expressing discontent with President Tinubu's government, with some politicians even admitting regret over voting for him. According to Alhaji Shettima Yerima, President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), the north is angry and will look for alternatives if Tinubu doesn't get it right.

Yerima cited several reasons for the north's dissatisfaction, including the government's handling of the tax reform bills. He argued that the government could have done better in presenting the bills, which were perceived as anti-north. Yerima emphasized the need for proper consultation and transparency to gain public support.

The northern region had high expectations from Tinubu's government, particularly in addressing insecurity and economic hardship. However, Yerima noted that the government has failed to deliver on these promises, leading to widespread disappointment. He criticized some state governors for their lack of creativity and initiative in generating revenue within their states, relying heavily on federal allocations instead.

Yerima also advocated for the decentralization of the federal structure, arguing that it would force states to become more productive and self-sufficient. He emphasized the need for states to harness their resources and pay a percentage to the center, rather than relying solely on federal allocations.

The AYCF president warned that if Tinubu's government fails to address the north's concerns, the region will be forced to look for alternatives. He emphasized that the north is not opposed to Tinubu's government but rather wants to see tangible results and improvements in their lives.

In conclusion, the northern region's discontent with President Tinubu's government is a pressing issue that needs to be addressed. The government must take steps to address the region's concerns, particularly in regards to insecurity, economic hardship, and decentralization. Failure to do so may lead to further dissatisfaction and potentially harm the government's chances in future elections.
