Montenegro Mourns After Devastating Shooting Rampage Leaves 12 Dead and Many Injured

A horrific shooting rampage in the small town of Cetinje, Montenegro, has left at least 12 people dead, including two children, and many others injured. The attack, which occurred on a quiet Friday afternoon, has sent shockwaves throughout the country and sparked widespread condemnation.

According to eyewitnesses, the attacker, identified as a 34-year-old local resident, opened fire on a group of people in the town center. The shooting began at around 3:30 pm local time, and witnesses described the scene as chaotic and terrifying.

"I was walking home from work when I heard the shots," said one eyewitness. "I saw people running and screaming, and I knew something was terribly wrong."

Police responded quickly to the scene, and a shootout ensued between the attacker and law enforcement. The attacker was eventually killed by police, but not before he had taken the lives of 12 innocent people.

"We did everything we could to stop the attacker as quickly as possible," said a spokesperson for the Montenegrin police. "Unfortunately, the situation was extremely difficult, and we were unable to prevent the tragic loss of life."

The victims of the attack include two children, aged 8 and 11, who were on their way home from school. The other victims were adults, including several elderly residents of the town.

In addition to the 12 fatalities, several others were injured in the attack, including two police officers. The injured were rushed to local hospitals, where they are receiving treatment.

The attack has sparked widespread shock and outrage in Montenegro, with many residents gathering in the town center to pay their respects to the victims.

"This is a terrible tragedy, and our hearts go out to the families of the victims," said Montenegrin Prime Minister, Dritan Abazović. "We will do everything in our power to support the families and to prevent such attacks in the future."

International leaders have also expressed their condolences, including the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic events in Montenegro," said Borrell. "Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and with the people of Montenegro."

An investigation into the attack is ongoing, with police working to determine the motives behind the shooting.

The town of Cetinje has been left reeling in the aftermath of the attack, with many residents struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.

"This is a small town, and everyone knows each other," said one resident. "It's hard to believe that something like this could happen here."

The shooting rampage in Montenegro has left a devastating impact on the small town of Cetinje and the wider country. As the investigation into the attack continues, the people of Montenegro are coming together to mourn the loss of life and to support the families of the victims.
