Key Responsibilities
1. Personal Care
Support residents with personal hygiene, dressing, and bathing.
Assist with mobility, ensuring safe movement within the care home.
Help manage continence needs and provide toilet assistance.
2. Medication Management
Administer prescribed medications following established guidelines.
Monitor and document medication usage, noting any issues.
Provide support for managing medical equipment and supplies.
3. Daily Living Support
Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring nutritional needs are met.
Encourage resident engagement in social and recreational activities.
Perform housekeeping tasks like laundry and light cleaning to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
4. Emotional and Social Support
Build trust and offer emotional comfort to residents.
Communicate changes in residents’ needs or conditions to caregivers and healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate records of care plans, observations, and incidents.
5. Team Collaboration
Work closely with healthcare professionals, nurses, and support staff.
Participate in ongoing training to enhance caregiving skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience in caregiving or a similar role is highly valued. While formal certifications are not mandatory, obtaining NVQ or QCF levels 2 or 3 in social care is advantageous. Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
