Narteh Ogum, the head coach of Asante Kotoko Prosper, has emphasized the significance of his team's Ghana Premier League victory over Basake Holy Stars.

At Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday afternoon, the Porcupine Warriors defeated the Basake Holy Stars by a slim margin.

The difference came via a deflected goal by Samuel Tenedu in the 14th minute, giving Kotoko their third straight victory and extending their winning streak to four games.

Due to the Bibiani Gold Stars' inability to defeat Hearts of Oak at home, the Porcupine Warriors are presently one point ahead at the top.

After the game, Ogum praised his team for their incredible performance thus far this season and insisted that the team's victory over Holy Stars gave them more confidence.

"I will give the players credit for their strong performance thus far. Players have demonstrated tremendous levels of energy in every game they have played, despite the tight timetables of the fixtures not giving them adequate time to relax," he stated.

"I believe it is a nice one for us in terms of triumph. It makes us feel quite confident. It gives you a lot of optimism to play in the Ghana Premier League and win," he remarked.

With momentum in their favor, Kotoko will focus on their upcoming home game against Berekum Chelsea, where they hope to solidify their position as the league's top team.

With this victory, the Black Stars cemented their position at the top of Group I with 15 points, taking a major step toward securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Gyan, Ghana's all-time leading scorer, has been a vocal supporter of the team, and his involvement off the field continues to be invaluable.

Thomas Partey led the charge, scoring twice with well-placed headers in the 11th and 54th minutes, both assisted by Jordan Ayew. Mohamed Kudus ended the match in the 74th minute with a clinical finish following a precise pass from Ayew.
