Thursday, January 20, 2022 was indeed a black Thursday in Ghana.
Thursday as the name in twi local dialect suggests; “Yawoada”, means day of pains and sorrows was indeed a no ordinary day in the land of Apiatsi-Bogoso in the Western region of Ghana. Yesterday was a sorrowful day for the people of Apiatsi and the people of Ghana at large.
Preliminary investigation says that a huge truck carrying dynamites from Tarkwa to Chirano mines collided with one tricycle (“Aboboyaa”) which caused the dynamites to explode.
The Ghana police service in conjunction with other emergency service providers under took a massive emergency recovery exercise.
Forensic investigation says that hundreds of people feared dead while thousands of people are injured with some on emergency admission at the various hospitals in the Bogoso Municipality.
The Ghana police service has therefore asked the people of Apiatsi to move out of the town to nearby towns while recovery efforts are still underway. They also asked the people to remain calm and assured them of rescuing more of the victims.
We deeply sympathize with the families and people of Apiatsi for the lost souls.
May all lots souls rest in perfect peace.
