Appietus, a well-known sound engineer, is dissatisfied with the disrespect shown to veteran musicians and the speed with which they are replaced by younger artists.
Appietus remarked in an interview with Graphic Showbiz that it was past time to cease fast retiring musicians and bringing in new ones.
"2Baba of Nigeria is still revered, and Nigerians see him as a legend on any given day." In Ghana, a new artist emerges and it appears as though the previous ones have done nothing. "Everyone has been focusing on Black Sherif since he arrived, as if we don't have any other artists in Ghana," he remarked.
Although it is important to assist new artists, Appietus believes that we should never strive to replace them with older ones.
"Some of these new artists come in with a lot of zeal and then vanish for the following two or three years." However, we're talking about artists like Daddy Lumba, Amakye Dede, Kojo Antwi, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and Okyeame Kwame, who have been relevant for over a decade.
"We should value and honor such artists." Ghanaians enjoy trying new things and discarding old ones. It makes these older musicians resentful, and I would feel the same way if I were in their place.
The same mindset was applied to our musical genres, which is why Azonto, Crank, and other genres failed to survive. How can we expect these older musicians to come out and teach the younger ones what they know if we believe the younger ones are superior? They will not even help because of their animosity.
"I know some of these old musicians who had extremely wonderful songs," he said, "but we decided not to listen to them any longer because we believe the new ones have come and we no longer require them."
Sarkodie, Okyeame Kwame, Daddy Lumba, Kojo Antwi, Rex Omar, 4X4, Ofori Amponsah, Wutah, and Praye, to mention a few, have all worked with the award-winning sound engineer.
