Delegates from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Central Region's Ekumfi Constituency have chosen new executives to lead the party for the next four years.
The elections were originally scheduled for Friday, May 27, 2022, but were postponed due to a court order obtained by several disgruntled candidates.
However, the lawsuit was eventually settled out of court by the Party, paving the way for the Regional Election to be held on Saturday, June 4th.
Rain began to fall at 1400 hours, just as voting had concluded and counting was about to begin, temporarily disrupting the otherwise calm process.
Despite this, the excitement that characterized the exercise did not fade, as people spontaneously leaped and sang in joy in the rain throughout the counting and announcement of the results.
With 518 delegates voting, 26 candidates competed for 10 places.
Mr Nana Adu Donkor, well known as 'Okumkom,' was chosen Charmian, defeating his single opponent, Moses Donkor, with 411 votes to 94.
With 318 votes, Mr Ishmael Osam Anderson was re-elected as First Vice Chairman, whereas David Dawson received just 184 votes.
Mr Ransford Egya Bosomtwe received 182 votes for the second Vice Chairmanship post, which had four candidates. His closest competitor, Mr James Entsie, received 161, Sumaila Awuni received 62 votes, and Ato Biney received eight votes.
Mr. Jamil Rahman Nyame won the Secretary position with 260 votes, while Mr. Edward Armah received 228 votes in a tight race.
Messrs. James Ackon and Boutrous Kojo Saah tied for first place with 140 votes apiece for the Assistant Secretary job, which had the most candidates.
108, 46, 38, and 33 votes went to Messrs. Ebenezer Spio Anim, Mustapha Quansah, Isaac Minkah, and Barnabas Sam, respectively.
As a result, the position was not stated until a new date for voting was set.
With 203 votes, Madam Naomi Aba Adu was elected Treasurer, followed by Alfred Cudjoe with 160 votes and Celestina Anderson with 145.
Ahmed Mustapha Anderson won the Organiser with 332 votes, while Mr Albert Augustine Mensah came in second with 173.
Nana Ansah was elected as the constituency's Youth organiser with 320 votes, defeating Mr Samuel Kuntu Takyi, who received 185 votes.
Madam Araba Woode got 388 votes to win Ms Kate Nyame's 119 votes in the women's Organiser race, which did not appear to be a battle.
Nasil Ahmed Anderson barely won the Nasara coordinator job with 254 votes, while Madam Mary Andam polled 250.
Mr Nana Adu Donkor, the newly elected Chairman, urged for unity among party members as the NPP pledged to "break the eight."
He complimented the delegates on their demeanor and praised the police for their professionalism during the exercise.
