Barcelona is interested in signing a former La Liga goalkeeper with a €12.5 million release clause
With many attributing Marc Andre ter Stegen's poor form to a lack of competition, Barcelona has kept their eyes on the market and looked inward for a list of potential goalkeepers they could sign.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the latest name on the Barcelona keepers' radar is Granada's Luis Maximiano. In the most recent La Liga season, the 23-year-old shot-stopper had the most saves.
Maximiano's contributions have not gone unnoticed by Barcelona, and given their limited funds, the Portuguese goalkeeper would be a solid addition, especially since his release clause has been cut in half.
It is not difficult to read between the lines when When a goalkeeper is bombarded with shots, the team in front of him wastes too many chances. As a result of Granada's poor season, Maximiano's release clause has been reduced from 25 million euros to 12.5.
David Ospina and Alex Meret, are all close to their end of their contracts deals with the club.
Barcelona will almost certainly sell Neto this summer because the Brazilian needs minutes and the Catalans do not have them in their plans. However, his salary is causing some concern among potential buyers.
According to the Spanish outlet, Maximiano is also on Napoli's radar, who will soon need to find replacements for goalkeepers David Ospina and Alex Meret, who are both nearing the end of their contracts.
Barcelona, on the other hand, can afford to put Maximiano on the backburner for the time being, and they are reportedly planning to do so this season, giving youth keeper Inaki Pena a chance to back up ter Stegen.
Pena's loan at Galatasaray has been extremely beneficial, and he has impressed in the minutes he has played. The young Spaniard would be an excellent choice to play between the posts.
