Young males in the nation are now traveling about asking for free meals at people's parties and outdooring celebrations, according to Sam Nartey George, Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram.
According to him, this scenario has arisen as a result of the current Akufo-Addo administration's high cost of living.
On Metro TV's 'Good Morning Ghana' show on June 14, the MP said that, in the face of the economic crisis, young men have opted to eat only once a day, taking advantage of activities such as parties and outdooring to have extra excellent meals.
According to Sam Nartey George, the young men have adopted a '0-1-0' eating strategy, in which they skip breakfast, eat just once in the afternoon, and skip dinner.
"Today, many young guys in Ghana play formation football. Otto Addo has a better formation. They have a 0-1-0 record. You eat 0 for breakfast, 1 for lunch, and that one, you know what they're eating?
"They aren't eating komi [Ga term for kenkey] any longer since the ball of kenkey is now...
Because my fist is larger than a 3gh kenkey, they are currently eating gob3 [beans].
"They consume gob3 between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. in the afternoon." So you keep your stomach clenched between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. and consume gob3.
"You tell the madam the beans aren't enough, the gari are enough, and they don't even purchase korkor [fried ripe plantain] when you depart." They consume it as a "basis" and purchase clean water. They used to pay 5 pesewas for pure water, but today it costs 30 pesewas.
"So that's life, and you're going to bed till the morning." The 0-1-0 feeding formation is what it's called. You'll go 0-0-0 if you lose guard and play 0-1-1 the next day.
"You have to know how to play the strategy and avoid getting an ulcer because if you do, you won't be able to pay the omeprazole at the drugstore."
"You need to know how to play it so that you can go 0-1-0, 0-0-1, and 1-0-0 at different moments." If you make a mistake and claim you're having an outdoor gathering or a party, you'll be surprised at how many people show up to gate crash your event.
"Boys are wandering around town seeking for people's parties to attend in order to acquire free food. That is how desperate the country's youth have gotten," Sam Nartey George stated.
