Dzata Cement, an indigenous cement manufacturer, has spoken in favour of government cooperation in addressing the nation's infrastructural problems.

According to the business, Ghana's housing need might be solved if specific regulatory reliefs were granted to local businesses.

After the Trade and Housing Committee of Parliament saw the state-of-the-art production facility in Tema, Nana Philip Archer, the managing director of Dzata Cement, spoke with reporters.

He pointed out that Dzata Cement is well-positioned to work with the government to address issues in the manufacturing sector.

"We are really appreciative of the visit from the parliament and would want to compliment them for their attention while looking forward to continued interaction with them.

Although we are a young company, we are in a strong position to transform this economy through the provision of cement for infrastructure purposes, which can help bridge the housing deficit and other infrastructure needs, he told journalists. "We have several challenges that we think government can support us in dealing with," he said.

The purpose of the trip by the select members on Housing, Trade, and Industry is to talk with company representatives on how Parliament can assist their operations as the nation's sole entirely indigenous cement manufacturing company.

Mr. Archer promised that the corporation will work with the legislature and the executive branch of the government to find a long-term solution to some of the problems, such as the cost of power and the availability of raw materials.

Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the majority leader and leader of government business in parliament, recognised the company's efforts to stabilise cement prices in the local market.

However, he said that he would start taking action to get relief for the business.

"It gives me great satisfaction to see the sort of investment Dzata has made here to alter the country's cement market condition. As parliament, we must join together to figure out some reliefs for them, whether through the importation of raw materials, tax components, or equipment.

Being the only entirely local cement manufacturing firm with a wealth of job prospects for young people, we as a house will be making a statement in an effort to garner support for the business.

"I believe that the cost of power for industries like Dzata is also a worry, and we are going to work out some changes because when the cost of power is reduced, the price of cement will also be within the reach of regular people," he added.

Haruna Idrissu, the minority leader, praised the corporation for the significant investments and jobs it is generating in the nation.
