Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, claims he believes in Liverpool more than Jürgen Klopp.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has slammed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp over the club's title chances this season.
Liverpool defeated City 1-0 at Anfield last Sunday, and it appears that tensions between the two clubs and their managers remain relatively high.
The Reds were trailing the Citizens by 13 points heading into the game, with Klopp claiming that his team was already out of contention for the Premier League title.
Guardiola disagreed, claiming that Liverpool were still his team's main rivals in the title race, dismissing Chelsea, Tottenham, and league leaders Arsenal in the process.
Fast forward to Friday, and City manager Pep Guardiola has doubled down on his comments, even going so far as to say that he has more faith in his opponents than Klopp does.
'It appears that with my statement, I believe more in the Liverpool team than their manager,' the Spaniard said ahead of City's match against Brighton on Saturday.
'There are only ten games left, the World Cup is in the middle, and there are a lot of games to play, Europe is involved, cup competitions are involved, and injuries are involved.
'As I previously stated, yes, when we have six or seven games left.' One thousand million things can happen in ten games.'
Liverpool's next game is against Nottingham Forest, who are just seven points behind City and 11 behind Arsenal.
Guardiola also addressed Klopp's somewhat controversial remarks that wealthy clubs like City could "do whatever they want" to the detriment of other teams.
'It's not surprising because he has said it before in the last five or six years,' he added.
