During England's 6-2 victory over Iran, Kane was struck in the right ankle by Morteza Pouraliganji's clumsy challenge.

After receiving the all-clear from his ankle scan, England manager Gareth Southgate has announced that captain Harry Kane will resume training on Thursday in preparation for the World Cup match against the United States.

In England's 6-2 victory over Iran on Monday—the team's biggest-ever victory at the opening of a major tournament—Kane sustained a knock to his right ankle as a result of a clumsy charge by Morteza Pouraliganji.

Although the Spurs striker, who has a history of ankle issues, did continue to play for 25 minutes, he was noticed walking with a limp after the game and underwent a preventative scan.

But on Wednesday, the 29-year-old was given the all-clear to train, and the official England Twitter account posted a picture of him working out with the phrase "skipper" and a fist emoji.
Prior to Friday's match against the USA, Southgate said that his skipper will rehearse with the squad on Thursday at the Al Wakrah Sports Complex.

Southgate said on ITV, "He is good; he has worked a little more independently on Wednesday but he will back in with the team on Thursday and good for the game.
"We simply looked inside him to see. It can be vital to know exactly what is present while treating anything, and that was all good, in my opinion.
