Mesfin Tasew Bekele, a prominent international business figure and the Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, has indicated that he will attend the first Africa Prosperity Dialogues.

Girma Wake, the chairman of his board, will also be present.

The African Prosperity Network and its partners, notably the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the government of Ghana, the program's host country, are organising it.

The first of these yearly discussions, known as the "Kwahu Summit," will take place from January 26 to 28, 2023.

The Africa Prosperity Dialogues, which focus on intra-African trade, unite the continent's political and corporate leaders to plan and collaborate on the creation of the crucial single market known as the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Mesfin Tasew Bekele expressed his excitement at being a part of such a significant conversation series aimed at accelerating the implementation of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area Agreement when he confirmed his participation through email to the organisers.

By delivering safe, market-driven, and customer-focused passenger and freight transport, aviation training, flight catering, MRO, and ground services by 2025, Mr. Mesfin Tasew Bekele's business hopes to become the most competitive and leading aviation group in Africa.

Furthermore, Mr. Tasew Bekele and the Ethiopian Airlines team are working to "ensure that Ethiopia Airlines becomes an airline of choice for its customers, employer of choice for its employees, and investment of choice for its owner, and to positively contribute to socio-economic development of Ethiopia in particular and the countries to which it operates in general by undertaking its corporate social responsibilities and providing essential global air connectivity."

In March 2022, Mr. Mesfin Tasew was chosen to serve as Ethiopian Airlines' Group CEO. He started working with Ethiopian in 1984 as an Associate Engineer and rose through the ranks to hold managerial and supervisory roles in the engineering and aircraft maintenance departments.

He was named Chief Information Officer in 1999 and Director of Operations & Technical Systems Support in 1997, respectively. He was named Vice President of Maintenance and Engineering in 2006.

In addition, Mr. Mesfin held the positions of Chief Executive Officer of ASKY Airlines from April 2021 to March 2022 and Chief Operating Officer of Ethiopian Airlines from 2010 to 2021.

Additionally, Mr. Mesfin holds a position on the Board of Governors of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). He graduated from Addis Ababa University with a BSC and an MSc in Electrical Engineering. Additionally, he has an MBA from the Open University of the United Kingdom.
