Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, has submitted a petition to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), which has acknowledged receiving it.

Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng, secretary of the National Cathedral Board of Trustees, is the subject of a petition asking the commission to look into potential conflicts of interest and criminal activity.

After receiving the appeal, Mercy Larbi, a deputy commissioner for CHRAJ, informed the Daily Graphic that the commission will reply to the MP and explain the next steps.

Rev. Boateng, who founded Power Chapel Worldwide, has defended himself against the accusations in the meanwhile, saying that they were exaggerated to further a nefarious political purpose.

He claimed in a statement that there had never been any criminal intent or wrongdoing in his interactions with the Ghanaian government or the National Cathedral.

Rev. Boateng has also stated his desire to file a slander lawsuit when the CHRAJ investigation is complete.

Petition

Mr. Ablakwa claimed in his appeal that Rev. Kusi-Boateng was Kwabena Adu Gyamfi and that he had received GH2.6 million from the National Cathedral Board.

Rev. Kusi-Boateng allegedly utilized many passports and identity cards with various names and dates of birth, according to the accuser.

The MP further asserted that Rev. Kusi-Boateng had registered several businesses, including Y-CV Construction Ltd., Qharis Consortium Ltd., Kharis Football Academy FC Ltd., El Dunamis Media Limited, Onpoint 1 Laundry Ltd., Vibrant Generation Chapel Worldwide LBG, Dunamis Chapel Worldwide LBG, El-Dunamis Enterprise, and Duna Media Foundation.

The MP thereupon sought the Rev. Kusi-resignation Boateng from the board and an explanation from the Foreign Affairs Ministry as to how the Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng was eligible for a diplomatic passport.

Nothing is wrong

Rev. Kusi Boateng has been accused of corruption and having a conflict of interest, but Dr. Paul Opoku Mensah, the National Cathedral's executive director, has refuted these claims, saying that the money in question was a loan from a board member whose identity he did not identify.

He said that because the aforementioned sum was paid on September 8, 2021, "this is not an unlawful payment."

"You may always request documentation of this trail for confirmation. Since an audited account holder cannot fully explain every accounting issue, if the MP has a question, they will call you for clarification, Dr. Mensah continued.

He said, "I absolutely understand the political skepticism in our system, but even so, especially when it comes from Parliament, you expect a certain level of due process and when you are skeptical, you ask for proof and clarification."
