Today in Barcelona, the Huawei Green ICT Summit took place. The keynote address was given by Peng Song, President of ICT Strategy & Marketing at Huawei, and was titled "Green & Development: Deciding Not to Choose." Peng noted that an AI Big Bang is now in progress. AI offers operators new advantages and opportunities. Because of the larger bandwidth and increasing computer capacity that cause a sharp increase in network energy consumption, it also needs a stronger ICT infrastructure.

Peng emphasised that if the appropriate balance is reached between energy efficiency, renewable energy consumption, and user experience, simultaneous green ICT and ICT development is feasible. Huawei will introduce products at MWC Barcelona 2023 that represent this strategy to open the door for the environmentally friendly growth of ICT infrastructure networks.


Huawei proposes shifting the emphasis on energy efficiency from only enhancing network energy efficiency to also lowering absolute energy use. Multi-dimensional shutdown technology can be used in light-load settings to provide intelligent shutdown across many dimensions, including frequency, time, channel, and power.

In the meantime, the equipment can be put into a deep dormancy mode in situations with extremely low demand. For instance, condensation and low-temperature problems can be resolved using innovative materials and techniques.

This makes it possible for the power module to autonomously stay in standby, which lowers the AAU's power consumption at an extremely low load from 300 W to less than 10 W.


The corporation asks for an extension of the renewable energy focus, from the size of green power deployment to the effective utilization of renewable energy. To increase the precision of renewable energy deployment, site-specific rules can replace network-specific policies. Also, the period needed for intelligent scheduling may be decreased from days to minutes, maximizing the advantages of renewable energy from an economic and environmental standpoint.


Intelligent scheduling algorithms may acquire multidimensional site information, including weather, power pricing, battery state, and service volume.
