During their birthday month celebration, the February babies of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) ATOMIC Women's Ministry have reached out to older persons in the neighbourhood.
By visiting the neighbourhoods near the church to spread the gospel and extend invitations, they made an effort to reach out to the elderly.
When the elderly residents of the neighbourhood, some of whom were in wheelchairs, were brought to the church for fellowship, it was a sight to witness.
At the programme, about 30 older residents showed up.
It was done to express affection to the elderly and to serve as a reminder of God's unfailing love for them.
The older residents, who had been invited by the February-born women, were called forward and prayed for during the Sunday celebration ceremony.
After having lunch with them, some fundamental necessities and supplies were shared with them.
Mrs Vida Asah-Ayeh, the club's head, said that because of how vulnerable the elderly had become as a result of ageing, the group chose to give special attention to them as part of this year's events.
When such people required support around them in difficult times, she claimed that society likewise had a tendency to forget and pay less attention.
Joyful expression
Even though they were not PIWC fellows, some of the recipients expressed their happiness at being recognised.
They expressed gratitude to the women's ministry and the church for their kindness.
Serwaa Bonsu, 72, who resides in Dome Old Station with her daughter, expressed her gratitude for the initiative to honour the elderly. She said that while she had been experiencing a lot of sadness and depression as a result of certain things, the February babies' visit and the invitation had cheered her up and given her a sense of inner peace and pleasure.
Janet Bonsu, a 70-year-old Dome resident, claimed she was on her way to church when she received the invitation.
She expressed her satisfaction with the fellowship and thanked the organisers for making a difference in their lives and including everyone in the community, not just the more senior members of PIWC.
Experiences
Mrs Contance Ayeh, a different participant, stated it was a blessing and a chance to spread the gospel to them.
She expressed her astonishment at the group's display of love and camaraderie in the chapel.
"I met several folks who invited me. They had been really kind to me even before today.
I learned about the initiative a week ago while travelling from Achimota, said 88-year-old Dome resident Isaac Boadu.
