The accused are residents of Ashaiman, whereas the dead, Sheriff Imoro, was a soldier, according to a brief statement made by Superintendent Sylvester Asare, the Director of Legal at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Police Headquarters.

According to him, on March 4, 2023, Ashaiman Taifa in the Greater Accra Region got a report that a male adult had been discovered lying dead.

A team of police officers went to the specified site after receiving the information, according to Supt. Asare, and verified the occurrence. He said that the police team also recovered a number of items from the crime scene, including a knife with bloodstains and a backpack.

The CID Director of Legal said that the police discovered eight more pieces of clothing, a Ghana Card, an insurance card carrying the name Imoro Sheriff, an Apple laptop, a Samsung tablet, and an Imoro Sheriff-branded military outfit in the rucksack.

He said that following that, the deceased's body was sent to a hospital for an autopsy and preservation.

The prosecution claims that the police started looking into the deceased's death's circumstances right away, which led to the arrest of the accused on March 10, 2023, from their hideouts in Ashaiman.

He stated that additional inquiries showed that the deceased was stationed at the Third Infantry Battalion, Sunyani, He went to Ashaiman Newtown to see a female friend on March 3, 2023, and departed at 1:30 am the next day.

He said that according to subsequent police investigations, the accused individuals assaulted Imoro, who is now deceased, at Ashaiman Taifa at 1:45 a.m. that day with the objective of taking his cell phone. They then stabbed him to get past his resistance and subdue him.

He said that Rakib purchased the deceased's cell phone for Gh300 after Tetteh and Sadick successfully robbed him of it.

According to Supt. Asare, Rakib then sold the phone to Musah for GH350.

He said that Safianu attempted to lie when approached about the phone's whereabouts and claimed to have sold it to Mohammed for GHC 500 before subsequently returning it.

He requested that the suspects be held in police custody and stated that there were continuing police investigations.
