Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, a prospective New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer, visited the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, as a courtesy call.

The purpose of the trip was to formally inform the king of the Ga State of his decision to run for the NPP's flagbearership.

The former trade minister paid a visit to the Ga Mantse's palace in Accra yesterday with a group that was led by the late Ayikoi Otoo, who served as attorney general.

Transformation

As someone who had worked near the palace enclave, Mr. Kyerematen said he felt himself to be a subject of the chief and believed it appropriate to formally tell the landlord of the Ga state about his plans. He also addressed the chief and the traditional leaders of the Ga community.

He said that sustaining a robust economy and generating jobs, particularly for young people, were the two biggest issues facing the country.

According to the former minister of trade and industry, the country required a revolutionary leader who could reverse its fortunes. He added that he thought he had the transformative traits needed to advance the country.

"Now, these two issues cannot be meaningfully resolved without a nation's transformation." Since gaining our independence, we have visited the IMF 17 or 18 times, and we are presently seeking to get another package from them. We need a transformative leader who can move the nation if we are to reverse this trend, which we must do.

"In full humility, I feel I provide that possibility, going beyond growth to change," he stated.

It was his hope that the chief would mobilize his followers behind him in "silence," even though chiefs were not permitted to participate in party politics.

He instructed them to speak to the delegates in silence, saying, "I realize that you're not meant to become engaged in party politics.

Given that Greater Accra served as the nation's capital and that it was crucial to make a good first impression by elevating the Ga people, he promised to involve and showcase the Ga people prominently in his government.

 bold move

The Ga Mantse commended Mr. Kyerematen and his team for choosing to run for the NPP party's leadership and asked him to forge a social compact with the Ga people.

It's a brave move. Whoever wins the bid must understand these few things in order to create a social contract with the Ga Dangbe people, because Ghana is watching. "Because Accra is the key electoral city, we will make the choice in 2024," he added.

He praised the heroic men who had battled for the party and urged the supporters not to take their sacrifice for granted.

"We pray that if your bid is successful, you will also think about our lands; their release will make the Dangbe very happy and will be in support of your claim," the petition reads. "In your manifesto, promote a national development agenda for the entire country so that there will be change."
