Christians celebrated Palm Sunday yesterday around the nation to remember Jesus Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem prior to the Passion Week that precedes Easter.

Worshipers in most churches marked the day by attending services with palm fronds, thanking God with song and dancing.

Others saw congregation members and children marching through local streets while chanting "Hosanna" while carrying palm fronds and being accompanied by brass band music.

Easter Sunday

The Sunday before Easter is designated as Palm Sunday. The first day of Holy Week is today.

Because it is a moveable feast, the date varies according on the liturgical calendar.

Ghana Presbyterian Church

According to Benjamin Xornam Glover, members of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCGHope )'s Congregation in Sakumono Estates participated in a parade around the neighbourhood to celebrate Palm Sunday. The procession was led by the Women's Fellowship, Children's Service, and Boys and Girls Brigade.

According to Roselind K. Amoh of Kaneshie, the brass band of the church backed the Hosanna parade that the Children's Service, Youth Service, and Boys and Girls Brigade of the Kaneshie Congregation of the PCG led through the Awudome neighbourhood.

They entered the church's main auditorium after the thrilling procession, where they were joyfully greeted by the adults, who joined in singing the well-known "Hosanna" hymn while they all waved.

Rev. Maxwell Johnson Obodai Sai, the second minister of the Kaneshie Congregation, urged Believers in a sermon to consider themselves to be the donkey that Jesus rode for His Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem.

Moreover, he advised Christians to imitate Christ in all their actions by being modest, submissive, and gentle as well as by offering sacrifices for the benefit of others.

"We must also make a sacrifice, just as Christ did when He gave up His glory and honour and sacrificed Himself so that mankind may find redemption.

In order to be used by God in whatever situation we find ourselves, we must obey God's Word and possess the necessary humility.

"We must imitate Him even if we may not be able to lay down our lives. We are Christians, after all, and we follow His example, the Rev. Sai said.

Chapels in Ho

According to Alberto Mario Noretti, there were colourful processions as churches in Ho gathered to observe Palm Sunday.

The congregation of the Ho-Kpodzi Dela Cathedral of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (E. P. Church) marched through the towns of Dome, Hliha, Ahoe, and Heve before returning to Ho-Kpodzi while hysterically chanting, drumming, and enthusiastically waving palm fronds.

In response, a large number of locals lined the streets to cheer up the processors, turning the town into a funfair.
