Samuel Adjei, a former regional student coordinator for TEIN Ashanti at the University of Development Studies campus in Wa, is on the verge of endorsing the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket in the Manso Nkwanta constituency to end the New Party Party's (NPP) hold on the seat since 1996.
Along with his rival, Alhaji Osman Musa Bance, he successfully completed a screening procedure on Monday at the NDC regional headquarters in Amakom, in the Ashanti region.
The NDC's strategy to win the seat for the first time since Ghana's return to multiparty politics in 1992 was vigorously defended by Mr. Adjei, a communications specialist and member of the party's Ashanti region communication team.
Mr. Adjei, who is viewed as the front-runner for the May 13 primary elections and will serve as the Manso Nkwanta constituency's director of elections during the 2020 general elections as well as a key financier at both the constituency and regional levels, thinks it's about time the NDC reclaimed its rightful position in the Ashanti region.
In his words to GraphicOnline, "I think now is the moment for the people in the region to express thanks by at least providing this seat to us as a way of saying thank you." The former NDC administration led by John Dramani Mahama invested extensively in the region.
His strategy is to mobilize all resources, apply his knowledge across the board, and set up the party for success in 2024.
The former branch secretary at Tetrem (2014–2018) stated that he has vowed to make history in the Manso Nkwanta constituency and inform the locals of how detrimental their prior voting habits have harmed the community in light of the region's poor quality of roads.
