Efua Goode-Obeng Kyei, the director of the EKGS Culinary Academy, has tasked the students to strive towards acquiring practical and vocational skills in addition to what they plan to achieve in life.

She explained that it was done to make sure they were ready for the future.

"My humbling counsel to them is that nothing compares to learning a talent." It is true that you will always require supporting talent, no matter what you do.

"With our enrolments, we have people from the banking industry and other sectors who are here to learn one type of skill or another because they know that one day they will go on retirement and that it is the skills that they need to be successful in their retirement," "My recommendation is that the young should do away with laziness and procrastination and then take a courageous move to develop a talent that would greatly assist them," she added. The skills they are now learning would be useful to support them at home.

Ms. Kyei refuted the idea that vocational training was only for those with poor academic records because it involved measurement and an understanding of the English language that was used, among other things, for the application of specific ingredients. She made this statement last Wednesday in Accra, at the launch of the EKGS' 25th anniversary logo.

Hence, she explained, "this sector is not for those who may not be strong academically; you have to be informed and know what you are doing to be able to accomplish things correctly."

She claimed that since its founding, the institution has taught over 7,000 individuals working in a variety of industries, starting their own businesses across the nation, and retraining others as well. She felt incredibly proud of the difference she had made in people's lives.

She claimed that the country's culinary business was crucial since people could not live without food and entertainment, both of which were essential for growing tourism, a significant source of income that had not yet received the necessary attention in terms of

Creating amenities is only one example.

The institute offered classes in pastry making, food theory, cake decorating, and flower design.

The institute, according to Ms. Kyei, wanted to guarantee that the kids it was training had a solid foundation, so it was developing a package that would make sure each graduate had the essential skills they needed to start their own business.

She claimed that the technology used for the job was now simple and that several tools had been introduced to shorten lengthy processes.
