Dr. Shani Bashiru, a prominent lecturer at Accra Technical University (ATU), has counseled Muslims in the nation to behave honorably, particularly during the fasting month of Ramadan.

He exhorted them to act in a way that would reflect favorably on their lives and the country as a whole, in accordance with Islamic teachings, and to be one another's keepers.

The professor said, "I pleaded with you, especially the youth, to constantly practise patience and tolerance at all times and abstain from criminal conduct to guarantee peaceful coexistence.

In Tamale, the capital of the Northern Regional, he provided guidance in a lecture for the 25th M. A. Mujahid Ramadan Annual Lecture series with the topic: "Leveraging Ramadan for the spiritual and material development of the Muslims."

It was put on by the Ghana Muslims Students Association (GMSA) and the Ghana Academy Of Muslim Professionals (GAMP).

Muslim academics, students, and youth organisations were among those present.

Muslims can rid themselves of bad habits and build their strength and patience through fasting, which is a spiritual activity.

Muslims are supposed to fast for a whole month, refraining from eating and drinking between the hours of dawn and nightfall.

Additionally, it helps people resist Satan and his temptations by empathising with others in society who are less fortunate and experience hunger as a result of poverty.

Muslims are obligated to do this by being nice and charitable to the underprivileged by providing food and charity.

They must also control their wrath, show tolerance, and work to bring about peace in their communities.

Self-control

Dr Bashiru emphasised the need for young people to learn self-control and patience in their interactions with others when speaking "Unpacking sabre as a fundamental teaching of fasting in Ramadan."

Ramadan, according to him, encourages righteousness and makes it simpler for spiritual aspirants to reach new heights "by making a conscious effort to increase their consciousness of Allah through the fast."

The instructor said, "Also make sure that people see the good in Islam rather than the unfortunate narrative that has been associated with some Muslim youth."

He went on to challenge them to set aside their differences and cooperate to hasten the growth of their separate communities.

Introspection

According to Rayhann Shaban, Head of Dawah and Publication at the Ghana Academy of Muslim Professionals, Ramadan is a time when Muslims are expected to reflect on their lives and identify any mistakes they made in the past work to make amends and pray for forgiveness and long life.

He exhorted everyone to pray for the welfare of the nation during this holy month.
