Cecilia Abena Dapaah, minister of sanitation and water resources, has urged participants in the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) ecosystem to work with government organizations to enhance services to the general public.
She asserted that collaborations, partnerships, and data sharing will aid in fostering synergy among all parties involved in the industry.
"Everyone is giving different numbers, and they are not all the same."
The companies in the sector have to share data on a shared platform, Ms. Dapaah continued.
When the new Country Director for WaterAid Ghana, Ewurabena Yanyi-Akofur, paid her a courtesy visit in Accra, the minister made the call.
Sampson Tettey, the acting head of sustainable programs, George Yorke, the head of policy, advocacy, and campaigns, and Development of Organization, Mawuko Freeman.
With a mission to create a society where everyone has access to safe water and effective sanitation, WaterAid is a global NGO that focuses only on providing safe home water, sanitation, and hygiene education to the world's poorest people.
The purpose of the trip was for the new Country Director to formally meet the minister.
Projects
According to Ms. Dapaah, the ministry is now moving forward with eight significant water projects around the nation to guarantee that the populace has access to a sufficient amount of water.
They consist of the Damongo water project, the Agordome water project in the Volta Region, the Upper East water project, which is vertical rather than lateral, the Daboasi water project in Sekondi-Takoradi, which is being tampered with by galamseyers, and others.
The largest water projects by the government will be the Tamale Water Project in the Northern Region and the Savannah Water Project, she said.
The minister stated that the ministry's main strategy was to work on initiatives that would help the nation's disadvantaged populations because "water gives life and sanitation gives dignity."
Collaborations
Ms. Yanyi-Akofur stated that the goal of her visit was to improve partnerships between her organization and the ministry.
The country director said, "Even though I have worked in the WASH industry for 10 years, this is my first time working for an NGO in the field.
