Dr. Nathaniel Nii Codjoe, a recent medical doctor graduate, highlighted that dedication and academic discipline were crucial to his achievement as an award-winning medical student at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) 55th Congregation.
He noted that medical education, particularly in Ghana, was a challenging program and that the difficulties were mostly due to the material's complexity.
Dr. Codjoe advised him that, in order to succeed, he needed to effectively manage his time in order to make sure that he was well-prepared for each exam he took.
He was quite persistent as well, and he was well aware that the trip was never easy.
When Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education, recently called the young Dr. Codjoe to his office in Accra, he disclosed this.
He was with his father, Emmanuel Akushiey Codjoe, and Prof. Sabastian Eliasou, Dean of the School of Medical Sciences.
The ceremony
Dr. Codjoe received awards for excellence in 15 academic fields at the graduation ceremony last month, including medical biochemistry, physiology, microbiology, community medicine, chemical pathology, and pharmacology.
Also, he selected certificate winners for the Best Clinical Student, Best Graduating Pre-Clinical Student, Overall Performance, Best Student in Family Medicine, and Best Student in Molecular Medicine.
The other two are Best Student in Ear, Nose, and Throat Rotation and Best Student in MB ChB Final Part II.
educational discipline
The majority of the time, you have a lot of material to study, but the content of a medical education is quite dense, so academic discipline is crucial, according to Dr. Codjoe.
"There are ups and downs, so you must handle them and make sure you learn from them to avoid repeating the same mistakes," he continued.
Commendation
Dr. Adutwum praised Dr. Codjoe for his outstanding achievement.
"Everyone was astounded by the quantity of prizes you won at your graduation ceremony and wondered how you managed to achieve it."
The minister stated, "I want to congratulate you on your outstanding achievement, and we trust that other kids may follow in your footsteps and achieve great things.
The minister stated that, given his outstanding accomplishments, it was only right to congratulate him and let him know how much the ministry valued the dedication that had led to his success.
