Blacks living abroad are urged to travel to Africa at least once in their lives to learn about the historical, cultural, and educational ideals of the homeland by a group of African Americans now visiting Ghana.
The organization contends that "we must teach our children about Africa and the historical and cultural ties that bind the continent to those of us in the diaspora."
Patricia Lawton, the delegation's leader, also serves as the Chief Executive of Quansah Travel & Tours, a US-based travel agency.
In collaboration with the hotel Bays Lodge and the firm Kaya Tours, situated in Ghana, she organized the group members' vacation.
Showcase
The Bays Lodge Hotel and Kaya Tours invited the American group to a unique African Cultural Night to highlight the artistic and cultural diversity of Ghana.
Great cultural performances that inspired the African Americans to participate in the traditional dance captivated the audience.
The party chose to travel to Ghana in order to rekindle their ties to their ancestors and learn more about the continent, according to Ms. Lawton, who was blown away by the hospitality extended by the management of the Bays Lodge and Kaya Tours.
She stated that the eight travelers thoroughly loved their time in Ghana and that they would return there frequently because of the country's superb food and hospitality.
African Americans living abroad, according to Ms. Lawton, are eager to collaborate with Ghanaians to promote rapid national progress and prosperity.
Commendation
Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey (also known as Abeiku Santana), the Chief Executive of Kaya Tours, praised the group for choosing Ghana and promised that his company would keep in touch with other organizations to encourage more African Americans to travel to Ghana and other parts of the continent to see historical and cultural sites.
The Legon Palm Wine Band, the Akwaaba Dance Ensemble, Nakeeyat Dramani, the winner of Talented Kids Season 10 sponsored by TV3, and Rahman Dramani, a finalist in Talented Kids Season 14, who is now performing, were among the performers.
Moreover, there was a fashion show called "Wear Ghana."
The phrase "Greetings from Ghana" was written on a Kente sash that was worn by each member of the group.
