Last Saturday, the residents of Assin Odumase in the Assin South District of the Central Region raised GH70,000 at a fund-raising rally to finish the social center project they started last year.

Numerous dignitaries attended the event, including Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Deputy Minister of Education and Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South, Felicia Ntrakwa Amissah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Assin South, and Osabarima Ankomah Bempong, Abontendomhehe of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area.

The other members are Nana Afia Danquah, the Chief Superintendent of the Oda Municipal Police; Nana Ama Agyeiwaa Agyekum, the Queenmother of Akyem Asene, close to Oda; and Nana Kwabena Amoako I, the regent of Assin Odumase. Queenmother of Assin Odumase and Eric Offie, the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) deputy central regional secretary

Addressing the crowd on the occasion, Rev. Ntim Fordjour praised the Assin Odumase residents for their sense of community and asked them to keep up their efforts to always maintain a clean environment.

He emphasized that the government would help any town that started development initiatives to improve the standard of living for its residents and highlighted that he had given many laptops to local schools.

The DCE, Madam Ntrakwa Amissah, and Rev. Ntim Fordjour each gave GH2,000 to support the social center's continuous operations.

In her speech, the DCE noted that the district assembly had contributed 50 sacks of cement to the facility. She also mentioned that a bridge and a contemporary public restroom had been built for the neighborhood.

To help with the building of the social center, the local regent, Nana Amoako, urged town residents who had not yet paid their development taxes to do so right now.

He advised the young people in the area to abstain from bad habits like drug usage and take an active interest in agriculture in order to support themselves financially and increase food production.

Osabarima Ankomah Bempong, the Akyem Kotoku Abontendomhene who presided over the event, gave GH5,000 to the institution.

He took advantage of the occasion to urge parents to provide their kids with a proper education so they may grow up to be responsible future leaders who can contribute their fair share to the country's restoration program.

Eric Offei gave GH2,000 to the facility on behalf of the NDC's Central Regional Executive.
