Alban S. K. Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, has asked Mama Deyenawo II, the recently crowned Queenmother of Yaluvi-Lokukope in the Volta Region's Akatsi South District, to promote girl-child education in her traditional territory.
Peter Bamfo, the Speaker's aide, delivered a speech on his behalf in which he emphasized the value of girl education to the progress and development of the nation.
He pointed out that, particularly in rural regions, traditional leaders should take the lead in advocating for more female school enrollment.
"Women are essential to the national development of any nation.
Whereas Ghana has made significant progress over the years in terms of women's engagement in the national debate and the day-to-day management of the state, It is crucial to maintain and perhaps expand upon this accomplishment.
To enable our daughters to assume the role of leadership in all sectors of life, I emphasize the need of focusing on girl-child education, he added.

Mama Deyenawo, formerly Monica Amenzah, was installed as Queenmother at a colorful ceremony that took place recently at Lokukope in the Volta Region's Akatsi South District.
Traditional and religious figures, as well as local politicians and opinion leaders, attended the event with a traditional theme.
Bernard Ahiafor, the local member of parliament, assured Mama Deyenawo II of his support and promised to work with her to further the goals of the residents of Akatsi South.
"Mother (Deyenawo II) and I have been friends for a while, and I have faith in her to succeed," said Deyenawo II.
The traditional Akatsi leaders, as well as the hopes and goals of our people, have my unwavering support as I stand here today.
In response, Mama Deleynawo II thanked the chiefs, elders, and locals for the honour bestowed upon her and vowed to be a mother to all, especially to the motherless.
