53 candidates for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary seat have passed the screening process and are now eligible to run in the Central Region's primary.

Among the region's 23 seats, five parliamentary candidates—including the Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson—are running unopposed.

The remaining candidates are Daniel Ohene Darkoh for Upper Denkyira West, Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui for Awutu Senya West, Shaibu Migyimah for Assin Central, Emelia Ankomah for Upper Denkyira East.

The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Queenstar Pokua Sawyerr, may run unopposed if a problem with one of the candidates for Agona East is not rectified, according to the vetting committee.

Three seats, Efutu, Assin North, and Gomoa Central, have been placed through the vetting process. Additional entrants

The five-member panel that interviewed the candidates dismissed three candidates from Agona West, Agona East, and Upper Denkyira West for a variety of reasons.

Three candidates—Isaac Smith Acquah, Foster Joseph Andoh, and Seth Agyapong Mensah—would run for the position in the Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency.

Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku, the incumbent, will face competition from four other candidates for the Cape Coast North Constituency: Ibrahim Muntari, Hammond Larie, William Abeiku Hayford, and Charles Walker.

While William Adu-Oduro and Alhassan Kobina Ghansah will compete in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa Constituency, Nicholas Nana Baffoe and Stephen Baidoo will face off in the Assin South Constituency.

Amoh Foster and Richard Gyan-Mensah will face off in the primary for the Gomoa West Constituency, while Felix Kwakye Ofosu and Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse will square off in the primary for the Abura-Asebu- Kwamankese.

Five candidates will compete for the position in Ekumfi: the incumbent Abeiku Crentsil, Othneil Kwainoe, Meshach Abakah Gynin, Fatimah Amoadu, and Saeed Abdulae. Maxwell Wiah Asomang and Ernestina Ofori Dangbey will fight it out for the position in Agona West.

For Cape Coast South, incumbent George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan will compete against Thomas Hughes Amissah and George Perry Atta.

In Gomoa East, the primary will include six candidates: Jasmine Obrempong, Desmond de-Graft Paitoo, Emmanuel Appoh, Prince Aidoo, Ashetu Mamudua, and Abraham Bruce Amissah.

Maame Efua Sekyi Aidoo, a woman, will compete for the position with six males in the Mfantseman Constituency.

Michael Turkson, Dr. Ebenezer Arhin, Kenneth Nkrumah, Alfred Coffie, Kobina Mensah Mannoh, and Emmanuel Coffie round up the remaining contenders.
