In an effort to promote Ghana in Italy with an emphasis on commerce and investment, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, was welcomed to Rome by Ghana's ambassador to Italy, Merene Botsio Benyah.

The Foreign Minister said 2022 was irrevocable in many aspects due to the COVID-19 epidemic and the ongoing global economic issues while speaking at the national day celebration to mark Ghana's 66th anniversary of independence at the Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria hotel in Rome.

She claimed that while they have caused several sufferings throughout the world, Ghana's government was adamant about addressing their effects.

The government has now implemented a number of measures to address these issues, and we continue to be optimistic that we will soon see respite and recovery. "This too shall pass, as His Excellency the President of the Republic has always reaffirmed," she remarked.

It is notable, in Ms. Botchwey's opinion, that President Akufo-Addo's administration is bringing about a huge economic transition in the nation via a number of initiatives, including the Free Senior High School Education Program, One District, One Factory, and Planting for Food and Jobs.

In fact, our economic growth picked up, placing Ghana for the third year in a row among the nations with the fastest-expanding economies globally. We anticipate that 2023 will be a hopeful and joyful year.

At the event, which drew more than 300 attendees, Merene Botsio Benyah, Ghana's ambassador to Italy, urged the people of Ghana to band together and support the government's effective economic transformative programs in order to contribute to the realization of the nation's objectives.

"Ghana's favourable and investor-friendly business climate, coupled with a robust private sector, is ideally positioned for mutually advantageous commercial ties with international enterprises," said Ambassador Botsio Benyah.

The ambassador said that Ghana was now a "frontier for industrialization and manufacturing in the region" as a result of the government's continuing programs.

She continued by saying that industrialization will increase the value of the natural resources Ghana is endowed with, generate jobs, and foster export potential.

According to her, Ghana's foreign embassies overseas have a responsibility to play in recognizing potential in Ghana and luring investors for collaborations; as a result, the event acts in a calculated manner to present Ghana's opportunities to Italians.

Giuseppe Mistretta, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation's Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, praised the Ghana Mission for the national day celebration in his remarks.

He called it "a game changer" for the continent and the rest of the globe and praised Ghana for hosting the AfCFTA Secretariat.

Participants at the event included dignitaries from the host Italian foreign ministry, diplomats, representatives of foreign and Ghanaian businesses, traditional leaders, businesspeople, and members of the Ghanaian community.
