With the passing of the Member of Parliament (MP), Philip Basoah, the First Vice-Chairman of the Kumawu Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Appiah-Kubi, claims he is the finest candidate to head the party in the by-election.

He said that was because, out of the five candidates who had been given the party's approval to run in the primary on Sunday, April 23, 2023, he was the one who had the most solid a foundation in the region.

He told the Daily Graphic that he was the finest candidate to head the party in the by-election because of the expertise he had amassed over the years as a grassroots leader through the numerous developmental activities he had done.

In addition to Mr. Appiah-Kubi, party leaders last Sunday examined seven other candidates who chose nomination forms to run in the NPP parliamentary primary in the Kumawu Constituency by-election in the Ashanti Region.

These include Opanyin Yaw Baah, a former Kumawu MP; Dr. Aboagye Dacosta, the current director of health promotion at Ghana Health Services (GHS); Obaapa Ama Serwaa, Ernest Anim, Dr. Philip Yaw Barnor, Edward Kofi Osei, and Owusu Bempah.

Dr. Philip Bannor and Attorney Edward Osei were the two participants who were eliminated at the end of the activity.

Mr. Appiah-Kubi chose to vote for the first place on the voting paper, which established the parameters for the race this Sunday.

the most votes

According to Mr. Appiah-Kubi, "anyone who is competing with me is beginning from zero," since when he and three other candidates ran for the first vice chairman post, he received the largest number of votes (238 out of 410), demonstrating his experience in the field.

He said that several of the people showing up for the primary were unfamiliar with the constituency's electoral districts and were also unknown.

In comparison to the other candidates, he claimed, "I stand tall because of the experience I have garnered as a grassroots person."

Appiah-Kubi asserts that no one can rival him when it comes to bringing progress to the various areas.

Activity: "I have constructed an e-learning center, an educational center for the constituency, and I have extended power to several additional schools in the constituency.

In addition, he claimed, "I have built a mechanized borehole for the people of Asekyerewa and given free National Health Insurance Scheme cards to over 600 individuals. I have been able to develop a functional sports academy that is operating alongside another football club.

Mr. Appiah-Kubi reiterated that he had supplied exercise books to schools, coordinated healthcare initiatives, provided hospital equipment, and participated in a variety of social events.

He promised that if elected, the Kumawu Constituency will serve as a template for the party and other constituencies to follow.
