A pilot project called the "District Change Leadership Programme" that was designed to increase the leadership ability of 70 leaders in the education sector from chosen districts and municipalities across the nation has been completed in Kumasi.

Participants in a series of residential learning summits, known as Change Leaders, include teachers, regional and district directors of education, and others. They were given the tools they needed to develop strong learning ecosystems for kids, including leadership skills and management techniques.

The Change Leaders of the Kwahu Afram Plains North District and the Builsa North Municipality benefited from this pilot program from January to March 2023.

Lambussie, Akuapem South, and Bosome Freho were the first three districts to gain in 2022.

A network of educators and individuals is being targeted through the District Change Leadership Programme as part of the transformative plan to enable upgrades to the nation's educational system.

The Jacob's Foundation, a charitable organization that invests in education to help children's development, provided the funding.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Ghana sponsored the design and delivery of the course by the international education consultant White Loop.

Learning results

Tillmann L. Guenther, an education specialist with UNICEF Ghana, told attendees in Kumasi that the program was crucial to enhancing kids' learning to read and write.

He said that the initiative was related to the Education Sector Plan (ESP) 2018–2030 of the Ministry of Education, which promoted high-quality education and learning.

According to Mr. Guenther, the participants are essential players in creating communities of excellence because they will enhance students' learning at the district level and have the power to impact good change.

According to him, the initiative was a reflection of UNICEF Ghana's educational sector programming and the organization's dedication to ensuring that kids have the resources they need to succeed in school.

Justification Jennifer Agyeman, a co-lead facilitator for White Loop in Ghana, said that the training will enhance the country's educational system and promote a culture of diversity across communities.

In order to assist individuals become more influential, she explained, the group had come together to provide them with tools and training in cooperation and leadership.

In order to improve attitudes and strengthen collaboration, learning included questioning presumptions inside communities.
