The Convention People's Party (CPP) is concerned about how much tax Ghanaian workers must pay.
The party claimed that this has worsened the standard of living for workers by eroding their salaries.
in May
This was said in a statement issued yesterday in honor of May Day and signed by Nana Yaa Akyempim Jantuah, the general secretary of the CPP.
"Today, May 1, 2023, is supposed to be a day of celebration for the hardworking masses of this dear country, Ghana," it stated.
"Unfortunately, today's Ghanaian workers must pay taxes that have completely reduced their take-home pay, lowered their standard of living, and driven up their cost of living to the highest level ever," the statement stated.
Liberate
To free Ghana from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) regime, the party urged all well-meaning Ghanaians who loved their nation to join.
It said that the time had come for us to support the CPP in the general election of 2024 since the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration had taken the nation's citizens and workers for granted for far too long.
It felt like Ghana would once again be great.
It said that the NPP administration had demonstrated time and time again that it had no intention of rescuing the nation from its bleak situation of mismanagement, corruption, and extreme poverty.
"It is extremely regrettable that the government and its allies have been accused of participating in illegal mining (galamsey) while we strive to protect our environment from that practise, galamsey in Ghana, and it is also sorry to learn that Ghana is smuggling illegal gold worth $ 6 billion out of our country while we have cup in hand pleading with the International Monetary Fund to provide us a bailout of $ 3 billion, very sad indeed," it added.
Be truthful
The President and his team were urged to address all of the allegations made against them in the statement.
"Ghanaians deserve to know the truth about galamsey; there are far too many cover-ups," it declared.
