In the Mfantsiman Municipality's Mankessim roundabout, ASP Beatrice Sintim Koree is working really hard, and I want to commend her for that.
She merits this for a variety of reasons.
There was significant traffic at the circle before she arrived, causing congestion.
Drivers spend hours upon hours going through Mankessim on their route to their destinations just as they are about to enter it, whether from the Accra or Takoradi roads.
Travelers heading to Mankessim occasionally got out of the car well before the Mankessim roundabout to walk to their destinations.
Since Wednesdays and Saturdays are market days in Mankessim, thieves took advantage of the circumstance.
It was intolerably annoying and infuriating.
To top it all off, several drivers took advantage of the circumstance and drove carelessly on the shoulder of the road.
As soon as ASP Koree got there, she swiftly set up an office near the roundabout to look into traffic violations.
Drivers were not permitted to load at the side of the road, and vendors were discouraged from selling in the inner circle and on the metal fences around the circle.
One frequently observed the ASP herself taking kids' shoes from the metals.
A police officer or officers would be positioned every short distance, inspecting motorists, pedestrians, and traders.
She doesn't work from her desk. Instead, she frequently moves about with her officers.
She offers guidance to dealers and drivers in her efforts. She is, in fact, a professional woman who does her tasks with great efficiency and is an example for our young girls.
The roundabout is now sane and has a free flow of traffic.
While some people praise her work, others belittle it, call her names, and even condemn it.
Many of us believe that the government's functions should be carried out indifferently.
When some of us are employed, we think more about seeking every opportunity to profit ourselves and ultimately bring the firm to its knees than working diligently to improve the position of the company and expand it.
Let's put in a lot of effort like this, ASP Koree.
My recommendation to Madam and the competent police officers who are aiding her is that they should not bow.
I will advise the ASP not to submit to intimidation but to continue with her men and women in the wonderful task being done, just as God instructed Joshua not to fear but to be of good courage.
I want to thank you once more on behalf of your hardworking ladies and men.
May the all-powerful God guide and bless you all.
