New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer contender Joe Ghartey's meeting with the Greater Accra Regional Executives of the party on Thursday, May 4, 2023, was marked by an air of celebration. He formally notifies them of his desire to run for president.
The event kicked off with a variety of tunes and ended with the NPP anthem.
In his presentation to the executives, Mr. Ghartey requested their support and officially declared his desire to run for the NPP's flagbearer post.
The candidate expertly argued his position throughout his presentation, citing his extensive experience as Attorney-General, Second Deputy Speaker, and Minister for Railway Development.
He emphasized the value of law and order, saying that a nation cannot advance without upholding the law.

While serving as Attorney General, Mr. Ghartey avowed his belief in and use of the law as a weapon for social and economic engineering.
If elected president, the seasoned lawmaker and former Deputy Speaker expressed confidence that he would retain a positive working relationship with Parliament.
The construction of the passenger lines from Takoradi to Tarkwa and Accra to Tema were mentioned as examples of his achievements in the expansion of railroads, but he acknowledged that they had been briefly delayed owing to the COVID-19 epidemic. If elected, Mr. Ghartey stated that the development of the railways would be a key component of his development program.
He acknowledged his longtime membership in the NPP Greater Accra and his diligent efforts on behalf of the organization in various capacities and constituencies. The Greater Accra Regional Executive commended Mr. Ghartey for his skill and labor and wished him well in all of his future undertakings.
Mr. Ghartey concluded by restating his conviction that he was the finest choice to lead the NPP and that Ghana would develop under his administration.
