Former vice chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ernest Aryeetey, has praised the founders of Family Health University College (FHUC), Professor Enyonam Yao Kwawukume and Dr. Susu Bridget Kwawukume, for their sound vision that has helped many people receive healthcare education over the past ten years.
He recalled how the Founders came to visit him in 2013 while he served as Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana to discuss their desire to open a private medical school in the nation. He stressed that through their perseverance and hard work, their vision has grown to include beautiful physical structures and a sizable number of students who graduate from the Medical School and the School of Nursing and Midwifery each year.
When he addressed the audience as the Special Guest of Honor at the Family Health University College's Matriculation and Graduation ceremony for the Medical School and the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Professor Aryeetey revealed this.
He claimed that in order for young people to actively contribute to their communities in the fast-paced world of today, it is now essential to provide them with the information and skills necessary for their chosen vocations. He urged the graduates to envision how they would use the information and skills they had gained from the university college to effectively impact society, just as the institution's founders had done.
Additionally, he emphasized that education is a powerful force that dissolves barriers and is essential for the growth of any civilization.
However, he went on to say that a lack of service-oriented education is a barrier to growth and progress. Irrespective of where they may be placed at work, he urged graduates who would soon be entering the world of work to use the solid knowledge and skills that the University College had offered to deliver quality service to their patients and to humankind as a whole.
For his part, Professor Enyonam Yao Kwawukume, President and Founder of Family Health University College (FHUC), reassured parents and guardians that their children and wards are in the right place to learn because the institution is a leader in the training of healthcare professionals and boasts a well-equipped hospital facility, giving her students an advantage over other students.
He continued by saying that the FHUC's extensive educational program ensures that its students are prepared for the demands of the healthcare industry. He claimed that knowledgeable, experienced teachers and administrators are always eager to help pupils get the information and abilities they need to succeed.
He greeted the new students and told them that the entire community of the university college would assist them in their academic endeavors. Since "a healthy mind surely lives in a healthy body," he urged the pupils, "a healthy body certainly lives in a healthy mind." He also reminded them of the recreation amenities available at the University College, including a swimming pool, basketball court, beach resort, and family rooms with various indoor games that they might play to unwind and recharge.
Professor Kwawukume exhorted the graduates to pursue their future endeavors with a spirit of perseverance and dedication, to spend their time wisely, and to step up to leadership positions when the chance arises. He challenged them to make a difference wherever they found themselves by applying the information and abilities they had learned. He also emphasized the need to continue to study throughout one's life and that graduating does not mean that learning is over.
