Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a special aide to former president John Mahama, has justified a statement made by the prospective NDC flagbearer on the hiring of party members into the security forces when he assumes power.
When John Mahama addressed party officials and members in the Northern Region, he remarked, "Our people, our branch executives' children, you simply stand by." We shall also enlist all of our young people to work if we are distributing employment or if we are recruiting individuals for the police, army, jail service, fire service, or immigration.
John Mahama's statement, according to Joyce Bawah, was just a response to the political attitude of the security forces under the Akufo-Addo administration. Joyce Bawah defended the former president's remarks.
She said that although members of the NPP's Delta Forces are being recruited and promoted in the security services, people who were recruited into the same services during the previous Mahama government have either been laid off or denied advancement.
She asserts that even if the NDC lacks a vigilante force like the NPP's Delta Forces, it is OK for the former president to claim that his administration will hire competent members of the party into the security services.
"What is beneficial to the goose is beneficial to the gander." Don't forget that the NDC has no competent individuals among its staff.Contrary to the Delta Forces, there are no records of any such individuals, whether they are members of a regular or irregular militia, belonging to the New Patriotic Party.
"Look, we need to speak truth to power; we need to remove all of our masks; and we need to be really honest. Our security is at an all-time low, morale is at an all-time low, and promotions are awful and politicized, she added.
Richard Ahiagbah, the NPP's director of communications, has meanwhile urged Ghanaians to reject the remarks made by John Mahama.
He claims that his remark violates Security and Intelligence Act Section 15 (526).
