Dr. Kwabena Duffour has withdrawn from the Democratic National Committee's presidential primary.

On Friday night, the night before the polls, he announced his withdrawal, explaining that it was due to his complaints about the procedures used by the party to prepare for the elections, particularly the voter registration.

He claims that there have been several anomalies in the exercise that the party leadership has not addressed.

Based on this, he said that he was dropping out of the contest but would stay in contact with the grassroots.

As of right now, the party has started distributing the ballots to the different areas and seats without our help.

In spite of my worries that the party is not prepared to hold free and fair elections, I would want to reconfirm my commitment to the party and grassroots, Dr. Duffuor remarked.

Participating in such an event would be equivalent to intentionally sipping from a calabash that was poisoned.

"I have been left with no choice but to withdraw after consulting with my support base across the country, as I cannot contest in an election that is blatantly flawed with irregularities despite all my efforts to draw attention to the same."

"I want to thank the throngs of people that supported me and my message. In addition to assuring them of my unwavering support for the NDC's triumph in the 2024 election, I want to reassure them that my choice is for the benefit of the party.

He said, "I wish the party well, and I wish all candidates for legislative office the utmost best in today's election.
