John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) recently elected flagbearer, claims to have the knowledge and vision necessary to restart the nation and put it back on the path to prosperity.

In addition to stating that there was no need to experiment with the country's leadership at this important time when things were not going well, he added that he was prepared to offer the leadership necessary to turn the country around.

This was declared by Mr. Mahama during a speech he gave in Tamale to formally accept his selection as the NDC's presidential candidate for the general election of 2024.

Several prominent NDC members, including its National Chairman, General Secretary, and 2020 Vice Presidential Candidate, Minority, attended the ceremony.

Among others, a leader in the legislature, Mr. Mahama's wife, and several of his family

In the NDC's presidential primary on Saturday, May 13, Mr. Mahama received 297,603 votes, or 98.9% of all valid ballots cast, to represent the opposition party as its presidential candidate in the 2024 general election.

In order to put the country back on the path to prosperity, Mr. Mahama accused the present administration of mismanaging the economy and causing suffering for the populace. He reaffirmed the need for NDC supporters, members, and the general public to vote for him in the 2024 elections.

He said that his tour of the nation revealed several difficulties and pledged to assure responsible economic management, provide infrastructure, and reestablish public trust.

In response to his overwhelming victory in the presidential primaries, he claimed the NDC was sending him a message to win the main election in 2024. He also praised the delegates and party members for their support.

Saluting his rivals in the NDC's presidential primaries for their efforts in the contest, the NDC presidential candidate remarked, "I pledge to lead you into a resounding victory in 2024."

Mr. Mahama called on party members to recommit themselves to the party with their resources in order to win the 2024 elections at both the presidential and parliamentary levels. He also urged NDC MPs who lost their bids during the parliamentary primaries to continue using their experiences in the party's favor.

He declared, "We will vigorously campaign," adding that the campaigns will be decentralized, giving branches and constituencies the freedom to establish and attain goals.

He expressed his gratitude for the Electoral Commission's efforts to guarantee successful elections.
