In order for their actions in the nation to complement one another, the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) and Africa Environmental Sanitation Consult (AfESC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The goal of the agreement is to make it possible for the two universities to work together to further the development of shared research, studies, and other programs of interest to both parties.
In order to give projects to both public and private sector players on health, nuclear medicine, the environment, and sanitation challenges, the two parties are to build new cooperation and broaden current ones.
Professor Samuel Boakye Dampare, Director General of GAEC, signed the MoU on behalf of the commission, and Dr. Abena Asomaning Antwi, Managing Director (MD) of AfESC, initialed it for consultation.
Pleasant agreement
After the signing ceremony in Accra, Professor Dampare spoke to the media to express his happiness with the agreement, noting that it will allow the two parties to collaborate to seek a shared objective in research.
He stated, "I see much deeper effort into the areas of collaboration under the agreement and, to a greater extent, bettering the lives of Ghanaians and beyond.
He said that the panel was required to study the advancement of nuclear science and technology as well as its Pacific uses.
He said that the commission, through its institutions, which include the Radiological and Medical Sciences Research Institute (RAMSRI), was involved in research, teaching, and the commercialization of its findings, among other things.
According to him, the RAMSRI is a medical research facility that uses nuclear and related technologies to advance human health and nutrition throughout the nation.
Dr. Antwi, for her part, characterized the partnership as a revitalizing one that will support the parties' current efforts to advance in their shared fields of interest.
She stated that it was exciting to see this partnership, which had been discussed for a while, come to fruition.
According to her, Consult is a research division of the Jospong Group of Companies with the responsibility of offering advice and sustainable environmental solutions.
"In addition, AfESC conducts a wide range of research, training, and problem-solving activities to create workable solutions for both public and private organizations, institutions, and people in the environmental industry and beyond," she continued.
