In order to import a variety of medical supplies and equipment, the R.K. Atikpo Foundation (RKAF), which is run by Hon. Richard K. Atikpo, a Council of State member who represents the Oti Region, has teamed up with GIZ and Magdeburg in Germany and Networking for Hope. These essential assets, costing thousands of euros, are intended to improve the provision of healthcare in the nine districts of the Oti Region.
Hospital beds, defibrillators, monitor accessories, syringe pumps and cables, swimming aids, mobilisation chairs, ultrasonic probes, ultrasonic device accessories, personal protective equipment (PPEs), breathing tubes, 02 sensors, suctions, resuscitators, medical supplies, consumables, ventilators, and other items are among the essential medical equipment that has been donated. The quality of healthcare services in the area is anticipated to greatly improve as a result of this kind donation.
Additionally, in association with German partners, a multi-day training centred on ultrasound examination in emergency care was organised. The session included both theoretical information and hands-on instruction with actual patients. Additionally, to improve their diagnostic skills, medical professionals from the hospitals in Jasikan and Nkwanta acquired new ultrasound equipment.
A workshop aimed at establishing an annual exchange programme is planned for the next year in order to promote ongoing professional development and information sharing. The goal of this effort is to establish close ties with German colleagues and to help the clinical environment in the Oti Region develop over time.
The project manager, Reginald Seth Dogbey, assured the residents of the Oti Region of Hon. Richard K. Atikpo and his partners' dedication to providing support and working together with medical facilities to improve healthcare delivery. He said that the charity is actively working on programmes to advance sanitation, youth development, education, and the empowerment of women in the area.
Dr. Fidelis Attia, the Medical Superintendent of Jasikan Government Hospital, expressed gratitude for the donated medical supplies and equipment on behalf of health institutions in the Oti Region. In the future, he hoped for continued support and further help, emphasising the beneficial effect such donations had on the region's healthcare services.
The R.K. Atikpo Foundation, GIZ & Magdeburg, and Networking for Hope's joint initiatives highlight the value of international collaborations in enhancing the region's healthcare infrastructure and, ultimately, enhancing the wellbeing of its residents.
