Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, a former minister of environment, science, technology, and innovation, has released a statement discussing his integrity in the face of corruption charges.
Prof. Frimpong-Boateng expressed his conviction that he would have been wealthy if he had participated in illegal activities after being asked by the Office of the Special Prosecutor to address corruption-related cases regarding expenditures by the disbanded Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, which he chaired.
"I would be among the most affluent citizens of this nation if I were a thief. We wouldn't be where we are now if we all had Ghana's best interests at heart, according to Professor Frimpong-Boateng.

"Those in power now should be aware that eventually they will be on the opposite side. If you are sitting on one side of the table, you may alternately be sitting on the other end and fielding inquiries. In all we do, Ghana should be our primary consideration. This country will be better off if actions are taken without regard for personal gain, according to the former minister.
He has been given a bail bond of Gh2 million.
